Flower designs are very hot such as semi precious pedant necklaces. It adds feminine touch to anything you wear and pink flower jewelry is especially flattering. Black and white colors are really big now; it looks super cool and elegant when matching these colors with sterling silver chains, silver earrings or silver necklaces.
Another big fashion trend is sun-kissed shades such as orange, yellow, green, and blue; these sun kissed shades are a great eye catching combinations; for example imagine a necklace made of red adventuring jade (orange shade), red carnelian, green adventuring jade, and golden yellow topaz crystals — wearing these combinations of semi precious stones will get you a lot of attention!! Translucent jewelry is very trendy, mostly quartz jewelry, clear quartz, rose quartz, and smoky quartz, they look even more trendy when they are matched with crystal beads — it’s sparkle and see-through celebration!!!
BLUE is the color of the season, it matches good with green, yellow and white, there are so many beautiful tones of blue in nature, and when it combines with sparkling Austrian crystals, it becomes a perfect match! No doubt that turquoise is the queen of the blue color; I find it fascinating how the color of turquoise stone is not strong, still it stand out from far away.
For example, imagine a necklace where the pendent is light blue turquoise, add to it blue sapphire crystals, light chalcedony stones, and white fresh water pearls — this color combination match is in such a harmony that it feels like the colors in heaven! It also feels really nice and comfortable when you look at it with your eyes, just like the blue sky, the Blue Ocean and white clouds. For more information and pictures go to:

Our love of diamonds and admiration of their fire and brilliance has given rise to many different cuts of diamonds. While we still see some of the earliest styles of diamond cuts – such as the round and emerald-cut, there are many more cuts today, some of them patented by their designers and costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The most popular cut for a diamond ring today is still the round, brilliant cut. It was developed in the 17th century in Venice. It is still preferred when the raw crystal is in an octahedron formation. Even though as much as 50% of the stone is cut away in the process, often two stones can be carved from an octahedron. More unusually-shaped stones are used for fancy cuts, such as a marquise, pear or heart-shaped diamond. The earliest brilliants had 17 facets on the top of the stone and were called double-cut. This was soon improved with stones cut with 33 facets and were called triple-cut brilliants.
In the 19th century, with the development of better gem-cutting tools, more innovations in diamond cutting styles were developed. In 1919, Marcel Tolkowsky combined the art of cutting with the science of light and refraction and published his book, Diamond Design. These relatively recent geometric calculations were the forerunner of much of diamond cutting work today and led to other, more precise mathematical models engineered to enhance the fire and brilliance of diamonds.
There are now cuts such as the princess cut, trillions, ovals, pear and heart-shaped. Some innovative cutters have even fashioned star or butterfly-shaped diamonds! One patented cut, the Ashoka diamond, is an oblong cut with rounded, brilliant ends, and requires a stone 3 carats or larger. It’s an exceptionally beautiful (and pricey!) diamond shape. Tiffany has also patented a cut of diamond called the Lucida cut. It’s the lucky bride whose fiancé gives her one of these highly coveted stones!

QUANTICO — Six-year old Ryan Rosetta clasped his sister Citra’s hand, flashed a smile, squared his shoulder and sailed down the runway like a professional model Sunday during a spring fashion show sponsor by Operation Home front and Lincoln Family Housing at Quantico Family Center.
“I had to bribe her with M & M’s,” laughed the children’s mother Karin Tanner as she embrace her daughter Ceria Tanner, 2, following her debut on the catwalk.
Karin Tanner’s husband, Sgt. Devin Tanner, enjoyed watching the show.
“This is nice,” he said. “It was worth all the work.”
Ryan, who wore a black tuxedo and red boutonnière, and Ceria, who wore a sleeveless pink gown, were among the dozens of service members’ children, ranging in age from infants to teens, who model the season’s latest styles in the show. Parents and volunteers helped style the young models’ hair and get them into their new clothes prior to the show.
“They’re absolutely adorable,” said Vivian Dietrich, who heads up the D.C. metro chapter of Operation Home front, a non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance and morale programs to military families.
The models and other girls attending the show each received two dresses of their choice to take home.
“This is their day that they’re getting dressed up, and being able to walk down the runway and show off their new spring fashions,” added Dietrich.
Operation Home front received a large donation of brand-new spring dresses from Kids in Distressed Situations, or K.I.D.S., which brings together manufacturers and retailers in a partnership with its network of more than a thousand social service agencies.
“K.I.D.S. has thousands of contributors that donate items from toys to school supplies and in this case spring dresses,” said Dietrich. “So, we said what better way to
celebrate with our military families than to have a free dress giveaway and a chance to model in front of their moms and dads?”
The Quantico fashion show was the first of three such events planned for the greater Washington, D.C. area. The second will be held in Annapolis on Saturday and the third is in Indian head, Md. on March 28.
To volunteer with the D.C. Chapter of Operation Home front, call (703) 421-9033 or visit operation home front.net.

Apparently the fashion high-ups don’t think that America ‘s Next Top Model Cycle 9 winner Saleisha Stowers wasn’t “seasoned” enough to be part of New York ‘s Fashion Week, thus the model’s absence in the biggest fashion event of the year. However, this hasn’t stopped the 22-year-old from representing at Fashion Week, as she joined three other models from recent seasons of America ‘s Next Top Model on the runways. One of them, in fact, is one of Saleisha’s Cycle 9 competitors. Apparently Cycle 9 bad girl Bianca Golden was good enough to grace the runway along with Cycle 8 winner Jaslene Gonzalez and Danielle “Dani” Evans, who won in Cycle 6.
Moreover, it was a reality crossover for the America ‘s Next Top Model alum, as the show they were appearing in was the Project Runway fashion show for the five remaining designers on that show. Also, they aren’t the only Top Modelers who are keeping themselves busy nowadays. There’s also Yaya Dacosta from Cycle 3, who is appearing in the John Sayles film Honeydripper, where she worked with actor Charles S. Dutton.
Apparently the two enjoyed working together as Dutton is starring with and directing Yaya in a Lifetime TV film entitled Racing for Time. Based on a true story of guard at a female juvenile offender, the film follows a woman who starts a track club for the young women. Yaya is playing a “gifted young runner,” alongside Elizabeth Pena, who stars in the film. The TV movie will be aired on Lifetime on Saturday, February 16 at 8pm, with another telecast the next two days at the same time. Recent reports claim that the film is “grittier and more stylish than the average Lifetime movie [but] nevertheless provides the mandatory melodrama and feel-good ending.” To catch Yaya from America ’s Next Top Model do some acting, don’t forget to catch Racing for Time on Lifetime TV.

Animal prints were a major fashion trend in Fall 2006. Leopard spots were most noticeable, similar to the spots you can find on a big cat. The jewelry hot fashion was Faux tortoise, faceted wood beads, animal print beads, and similar tone beads. The earth tone colors include shades of brown, rust, olive, with black and gray accents. Imagine surfing in the wild in Africa, the fashion was pretty exciting, but I do hope and pray designers and factories are using faux fur instead of furs of real animals!
In the end of the year, the fashion went towards baroque, English royalty was the inspiration for this ornate trend, bold accessories such as brooches, cocktail rings, layered necklaces, medallion motifs, jabots and chunky belts complement the baroque style dresses. The colors were truly jewelry tones: emerald, ruby, topaz, deep amethyst and blue. These are very rich colors; you can really imagine King Henry VIII and his many wives wearing this kind of clothes and jewelry in the palace.
The fashion was strongly influence by the French Empire, the love story between Napoleon and Josephine in late 18 century which inspired this feminine, romantic trends. To match the romantic style dress, the jewelry comes with lace and metal combinations, laser cut lace patterns on metals, hand painted chunky charms, bird motifs, porcelain flowers, faceted glass beads on velvets. The colors that whispers romance is a range of milky pale tones like misty blue, lilac, rose and buttercup. Wow, I can’t wait to see that, it would make any woman feel like a princess!

Brenda Ogilvie asked:
Costume jewelry is also referred to as fashion jewelry and is the type of piece you would wear on special occasions or to fun events that happen every now and then. Types of fashion jewelry come in many styles, designs, and colors to choose. Some of them even look like the real thing but are much cheaper to purchase. You will be able to find fashion jewelry that will fit in with the current trends in fashion and they will go with many of your outfits perfectly. Whatever pieces you like, you can pick to wear without feeling bad about the choice. You can use the special pieces to express your individual styles or mood without spending a lot to do it.
The Age Of Fashion
Fashion jewelry has been around for many years. The first pieces of fashion jewelry were found to be work by the Ancient Egyptian civilizations. They wore beaded necklaces and bracelets. Queen Cleopatra was considered to be the main one that was adorned from head to toe with fashion jewelry. A variety of metal was used in the old fashion jewelry and is still used today. These metals include gold and silver plate, wood, beads, ceramics, ivory, and pearls. Modern jewelry includes materials like plastic and nylon.
Sensitive Subject For Some
Most know that some of the fashion jewelry can be sensitive for the skin in some individuals. The metal used in the jewelry reacts with their body chemistry and causes a negative reaction. If you want to give this type of jewelry as a gift, make sure the individual getting the gift does not have this problem. They can not have any allergies to copper or nickel especially if the piece is a pair of earrings. Their ears may bleed, sell, redden and get infected from the allergic reaction.
Clean And Dry
To stop the fashion jewelry from tarnishing, you should try to keep it clean. This means a weekly washing with soap and water. Soak the jewelry in the soapy water and dry it completely with a soft cloth. There is anti tarnish paper available at jewelry stores for each piece to be wrapped and stored in if you plan to keep it put away for a longer amount of time. This paper is good but it is the regular cleaning that is the most effective preventative against tarnish.
Fun And Expressive
Fashion jewelry, when compared to the more expensive precious jewelry, is for fun and not to be an impression maker. You can add more pieces of the costume jewelry to your collection because they do not cost as much as precious items. This means more mixing and matching with outfits and more fun and expression of your moods. If you are the type of person who gets bored easily, you can change your pieces out or buy another to suit your current mood and not worry about spending a lot for it. Feel free to express yourself with costume jewelry pieces and designs.

Fans of the Bravo network’s competitive reality television series Project Runway are familiar with Jeffrey Sebelia as the penultimate winner of the show’s third season, coming out on top in the contest. However, he himself has remained seemingly undecided about how exactly his victory has changed in life, and how it will affect future decisions that he has to make. During an interview, Sebelia claimed that he wasn’t sure if being famous would make his life any easier to live. He added that as a younger fashion designer, whether or not he won, it was still hard to get into the highly competitive and frenetic world of the fashion industry.
Despite his difficulties, Sebelia is still going on and pushing forward his own fashion line named Cosa Nostra, his work being showcased during the LA Fashion Week. His designs were featured at the so-called “renegade” BOXeight shows, rather than the more mainstream events, located at the IMG’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios. One of the inspirations that he drew on for his latest spring line was Into the Wild, a book written by Jon Krakauer which has also recently been given its own feature film adaptation in theaters
Sebelia explained that he felt resonance with the life story and personal journey of the story’s protagonist, Chris McCandless, particularly the time that he was in the harsh desert. Technical details of his fashion designs such as the color palette stemmed from the visual imagery Sebelia had of the story. McCandless would later go on to Alaska, which Sebelia also integrated into his clothing designs, which he wanted to also be fully white and silvery. While longtime followers and fans of his work can expect to see his typical design elements of skinny jeans and zippers, he is also offering bomber-inspired jackets, military coats, and even preppy V-neck sweaters.

Fashion Has no Borders ™ FHNB Fashion & Accessory Exposé ™: November 18th and 19th
A multifaceted fashion exhibition will take over the Roundup Centre in Calgary this November, bringing together students, and fashion industry experts as well as both high-profile and Canadian retailers.
Fashion Has No Borders ™ President Sharon Cornwall is excited to bring the Fashion & Accessory Exposé ™ to Calgary after a successful run in Toronto. This new and innovative show will provide retailers with the chance to further develop their reputation as respected members of the industry, as well as present entertainment and promote fashion industry education by connecting business leaders with emerging talent.
“The show will launch and link Canada’s up-and-coming designer superstars with many of our Nation’s quality local source manufacturers, all in support of an industry that is a crucial mainstay of our diversified economy,” said City of Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier, “Thousands right here in Calgary are employed in fashion design, manufacturing and retailing. The Fashion Has No Borders™: Fashion & Accessory Exposé™ is their showcase, a chance to prove how very, very good they are.”
Fashion students will have the chance to come and showcase their designs and creations on the runway, and future beauty school students will be able to gain more insight into the colourful world of fashion by talking to industry experts about their experience. Young Calgarians will also have a chance to perform during the ‘Fashion Theatre’ portion of the runway show. Prizes and educational bursaries will be awarded during the exposé, including ‘Designer of the year’ and ‘fashion photographer of the year’.
“Fashion Has No Borders™: Fashion & Accessory Exposé™ is a great opportunity for the Olds College fashion students to get exposure to the industry they are studying,” said Terry Males, Chair of the School of Business at Olds College. “In Western Canada the networking at ground level of the fashion industry is difficult to find. There is no real resource that is easily accessible to young minds to discover the extent of how rewarding our industry can be.”
The wide array of retailers at the exposé will be split into a handful of differing categories. Kiosks featuring vintages pieces, accessories, and sport and street-inspired fashion will each have their own “zones.” Additionally, there will be zones for higher profile designers, menswear, beauty products and personal wellness.
So, for all the fashion lovers and future fashion entrepreneurs out there, get ready for the Fashion Has No Borders™ Fashion & Accessory Exposé™ happening on November 18th and 19th from 12 P.M. until 9 P.M. both days. Cost for entry is $9, or $5 for high school and beauty school students with ID. For more information visit http://www.fashionhasnoborders.com.
